Alagappan brings close to four decades of accounting, audit, and corporate financial leadership across Singapore, India, and the broader Asia-Pacific region, since qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in India in 1987. He holds Fellow-level chartered accountancy standing across four jurisdictions Singapore, India, Australia and the UK and has served as Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Singapore Chapter (2018–2019), following nearly a decade on its committee from 2009.
Before founding Abhyudaya Consulting, Alagappan spent over 12 years at Europ Continents Pte Ltd, a French multinational trading and distribution group serving the FMCG, medical equipment, and technical devices sectors across nine countries in Asia-Pacific. He was engaged to set up the company’s Singapore head office and rose through Finance Manager and Finance & Admin Controller to Group Chief Financial Officer, where he directed regional financial and accounting strategy, led treasury and tax planning, oversaw group consolidation, and coordinated statutory audits across all nine subsidiaries.
His earlier career included running his own chartered accountancy practice in India, an Audit Manager role in Singapore, and Financial Controller and CEO positions in manufacturing and e-commerce ventures giving him hands-on exposure to both the practice and industry sides of the profession before moving into corporate secretarial and advisory work.
